Looking at both Top 10 blogs published we see a common theme: Migrating to Windows 10 and mitigating security and compatibility risks. Not surprising.

The #1 published in 2017 and #2 published anytime blogs focus on GDPR compliance and having a framework in place to ensure your applications are vulnerability free. End-of-life software is a breeding ground for vulnerabilities. IT Security and Operations now more than ever need to work in unison to make certain compliance, risk and the security of an organization’s data are being addressed.

Another piece that made both lists, discusses the Equifax Apache Struts2 attack, reinforcing the importance of IT Security and Operations working together to ensure software is being patched in a proactive manner.

Windows 7 reaches end-of-life on January 20, 2020. IT teams that have been dragging their feet upgrading from Windows 7 need to start reviewing all the components and aspects related to migrating to Windows 10. That’s because, according to Gartner, migrating to Window 10 can take 12 to 18 months.

Published in 2017, Windows 10 Compatibility and Managing Risk, discusses in detail best practices for testing application compatibility prior to a Windows 10 migration with a focus on maximizing deployment velocity and mitigating application failure. If you are planning a migration to Windows 10 this is a must-read.

Lastly, making both lists, Faster Deployment – PowerShell App Wrapping Quickly Prepares Software for Deployment. If you are not familiar with the deployment tool-kit, it is a true time saver, especially for those who don’t have a lot of PowerShell experience. Our hats off to the Open Framework community!
