Our March product updates include support for the new Google Committed Use Discounts and recent Azure price drops as well as more accurate cost information on your AWS usage. We’ve also improved integration with Azure Resource Groups, rolled out new governance features, and introduced a new Cloud Application Template version.

Cloud Analytics

  • Google Committed Use Discounts support: On the heels of Google’s announcement last week of its new Committed Use Discounts (CUDs), we’ve provided cost information for CUDs in both the Dashboard view and the Instance Analyzer view. Cloud Analytics will apply your discounts using the same formula that is used by Google Compute Engine (GCE). Learn more about Google Committed Use Discounts.
  • Latest Azure prices: We have updated the Azure prices in Cloud Analytics to take into account the recent price drop announced by Microsoft.
  • More accurate AWS cost information: To provide more accurate cost information on your AWS usage, we now consume data from the AWS Hourly Cost and Usage Report. For instructions on configuring this capability in Cloud Analytics, please see the documentation.

Cloud Management

  • Improved integration with Azure Resource Groups: You can now launch resources through Cloud Management into user-specified new or existing Azure Resource Groups. Associate any deployment with any Azure Resource Group so that resources in the deployment will exist in the associated resource group. Read more about Azure Resource Groups integration.

  • Easily remove users: Enterprise Managers can now seamlessly remove a user, including all its roles, from the organization using the new “Remove” button on the user’s Roles page.
  • Support for special character use: You can now use special characters when creating a new group.
  • Invite new users faster: We’ve reduced the number of clicks to invite a new user to your account as well as made it faster for you to view user roles and associated permissions.

  • The new CAT version 20161221 enables:
  • Manually change the state of a failed CloudApp: Users who have either designer or admin privileges can now force a failed CloudApp into either the Running or Stopped states. You may want to leverage this capability when either the logic in the CloudApp or some environmental factor causes errors in a CloudApp operation and the underlying issues can be resolved manually. This action is available in the CloudApp view in the dashboard and in the execution resource patch action in the API.
  • Activity Feed enhancements: If you postpone or cancel a scheduled action, it will now be logged in the Activity Feed view of the CloudApp along with the name of the user who performed the action.
